VALUARDA ANCIENT ARTS STUDIO is a school conceived for special and unordinary plastic arts and located in the heart of Montreal Island.
Our mission is to revive, make notice of and continue using these ancient art techniques as instruments of creative language. Consequently, our aim is to share them, to enlarge this knowledge and stimulate creativity by rediscovering and using ancient(old) artistic methods and forgotten practices, both by the sale of finite products and practical teaching (how to do it) necessary for their producing/manufacture.
The studio is based on:
• short-standing probations, trainings (courses(classes), probations, attended workshops) for adults as well as children
• creation of ornamental artistic objects
• traditional methods and techniques
• traditional and contemporary interests, concerns and preoccupations, forms and functions, roles and parts
• authentic works of art for inner or outer arrangements of a private or public space (adornments for small furniture, ornamental accessories, decorative pavements and portable walls, icons, glass, wood, metal, stone painting/ paintings on glass, wood, metal, stone)
The particularities and characteristic features of this school-studio are represented by the approach of several old European traditional techniques, among which the true fresco, sgraffito, al secco and the traditional Romanian glass painting, which represents an unique presence and the same time a novelty in Montreal, but also the engraving, mosaic and Byzantine or folk wood painting.
All the manufacturing procedures respect millennial traditions and practices and implicitly the ecological balance of the environment, using natural compounds.
